Cabernet
Sauvignon is both an adaptable and noble grape. It can
grow well in just about any climate so long as it doesn't get
too cool. It first became famous with beautiful wines that
age very well from the Bordeaux Region of France. (Bordeaux
usually is made from Cabernet
Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet
Franc).
The wonderful grape makes
wines that are medium to full bodied and high in tannin and
hence many of them age beautifully weather a blend or 100% from
Cabernet Sauvignon.
With it's ability to handle
all but the most northern growing climates and wonderful complexity often showing flavors such as, berry, blackcurrants
and oak (from aging in oak barrels) it is not surprising that it
has become one of the most popular red wines in much of the
world and certainly in America.
